Tuesday Headlines

Tuesdays are usually the day I have the most time to sit down and write/type something up so I can hopefully do a Tuesday Headlines piece each week. I’ll try to post an additional headlines article sometime during on Fridays/Saturdays but can’t promise anything. Friday-Sunday are usually full for me either working, going to events and guaranteed alcohol consumption. With that lets get to the point here are touch on some points!

• With yesterday being Memorial Day MLB teams now have a pretty good understanding where they stand. The Month of May usually tells how a team will be going forward, not EXACTLY how they’ll do because you never really know. Yankees, Rangers, LA Angels, Cin. Reds and the Miami Marlins are all have a stellar month of May. The Angels just suffered a loss to they’re ace pitcher Jared Weaver. The Marlins have Austin Kearns and Emilio Bonafacio on the DL but have done well and are about to end the month of May with the best record for any month in team HISTORY. Starting pitching is clicking. Hitting, once Boni returns should be scary good, now ALL they need is Heath Bell to deliver like he’s delivered the past two years in San Diego. Marlins are currently in a 3 game series with the NL East leading Washington Nationals.
• Barry Bonds is back in sports talk! Bonds is reported to be interested in having a role with San Fran as an instructor of some sort. I understand this is a touchy subject because of his past. I don’t care it’s done and over we all move forward. Now, Mark McGuire who has admitted to using performance enhancing drugs now works for the St. Louis Cardinals as a hitting coach. Listening to Stephan A. Smith this morning and he says it best “If Mark McGuire can coach in baseball then Barry Bonds who was one of the best hitters in baseball history should be involved with baseball!”. I couldn’t agree more with this man. Bonds had a greater batting average, slug % and of course ended with 762 HOME RUNS! 762 which he holds the record! Give the man a job….it doesn’t have to be as a coach but GIVE HIM A JOB!
• Controversial calls during the Heat/Celtics Eastern Conf. Finals game 1 has people buzzing. During the game I wrote on facebook “Yeaa that was a bogus Tech. Foul” after referee Dan Crawford gave Celtics coach Doc Rivers a technical…for saying “Come On EDDY” . Ray Allen was given a Technical foul for turning around and showing a littllleeee bit of emotion, since it is the EASTERN Conf. FINALS! The calls didn’t decide the game but were RIDICULOUS calls regardless. I can see officials dropping T’s if this series was as physical as the Heat/ Pacers series but its not, yet. These two teams weren’t even 12 minutes into the game when the first technical was given. Refs come on…lets these people play!
• Miami Dolphins will be featured on the HBO show “Hard Knocks”…..yay
• Chris Bosh has been doing “light” workouts and now appearing on the Heat bench, not in dressed to play. He worked out with Keith Askins and Pat Riely Sunday and Monday afternoon. I would like to see him sit out the remainder of the East Finals, unless Boston takes control and we ABSOLUTELY need CB to enter. Give him the time he needs and bring him back for the NBA Finals, they’ll need him there.
• Lastly, San Antonio Spurs/OKC Thunder continue their series tonight and I expect another close game grind. OKC need to stop Manu and produce that jump shot in the 4th if they want to go back home tied 1-1.
